Countdown...
2...
Okay I realize I haven't quite gotten there yet, but I found this interesting on my way....All Roads Lead To Apache.
Tonight marks the first night in a long time that I'm "finished" with work. In honor of this special occasion, I'm treating myself to a little R&R and taking my butt to bed EARLY! AND!, I don't have to wake up in the morning "artificially" (alarm clock). I never thought I'd be so excited to go to sleep! :) Soooooo, don't call, don't write, don't IM, don't knock, just leave me be until I come to you!!
After reading the posts from my sisters in response to the little Ja'eisha's case...I can't sit back any longer without opening my mouth about the situation. I honestly can't believe that some of the brightest, beautiful, motivated, women in the world would actually side with the school system and the police officers in this case. Saying that "had it been my child I would have wanted them to handcuff her in order to subdue her", "This is my first year teaching and this makes me want to have the police officer's number on speed dial", "it serves her right...this should serve as an example to what can happen to the other kids if they act up at school". HELLLOOOO!!! Have we all forgotten that this isn't a juvenile delinquent, IT'S A FIVE-YEAR OLD!!!! You mean to tell me you can't stop a 5-year old from "wreaking" the room or throwing a tantrum? Personally, its not a teachers, police officers, school "systems" responsibility to raise my child (don't actually have any), your child, his child, or our children. It's the parents bottom line. I don't care if my child hits you, curses you, it's MY responsibility to set that shit straight. Though, I realize that there are some people out there that should not have been blessed with the sperm or the egg, but just because those select few lack parenting skills, does not give you the right to do it for them. Not many people have suggested that the her mother receive help as well. It starts at the home, so maybe her mother/father, whatever needs counseling, mentoring, HELP just like the little one. Today the 'system' is so quick to medicate a child or send them to jail for something instead of talking to them or helping them to understand right from wrong. How can we expect little Ja'eisha to understand that, if we just handcuff her like a criminal and throw her in the back seat of a cop's car? Furthermore, how do we or the police for that matter, know that the effects of her handcuffing will result in a positive response?? Just don't agree with it at all and think it's a shame that this is what we've resorted to, instead of taking the time to mentor/help this child or children like her (black, white, green, purple, and bad asses all over the world)!!
The "guaranteed to be the hottest concert since The Velvet Rope Tour" is back and closer than ever! Before, The Roots (yes sir) were makin' pit stops in Florida 5 hours away from my front door step. Now they're as close as 45 minutes away!!! BUT WAIT, THEREEESS MORE!!! That's not even the best part. They're coming with none other than "all you gotta do is say yes" Floetry. BUT WAIT, THEREEESS MORE!!! THAT'S still not even the best part. Okay, okay, the best part is...(drumroll please)...the concert is only $15. (crowd says "no way"). YES WAY! This has to be the best deal since, well since Ruby Tuesday's started sellin' double shots of Patron Silver for $5 (crossin' my fingers that it's not just a South Beach thing). Guess times have changed, 4 years ago the cheapest ticket in town was $85 for mediocre seats at a Janet concert. Combined with payin' $2.67 (yes the price has gone up once again...shouts out to G.W.) for a gallon of gas, $15 for two hot groups is a steal. I might just donate the other $30 they should be charging for tickets to some small non-profit organization in their honor. Yes they are "coming to break us off". Florida ain't ready!
When a "black" joke is made and people of other races (sorry but it's usually white people) look at you to see how you react, to gauge how they should react.

PRAYER OF SALVATION

Celebrated yesterday with my Alumna Sisters, however today is the day to formally celebrate it and pay tribute to all my Sisters, near and far, past and present, and future generations (my own little future Spelmanites and Morehouse Men).
Invited myself to my own little listening party for the drop of the new 112 "Pleasure & Pain" CD last night. Wasn't the BEST 112 has to offer. Sounds more like "Q, Mike, Slim, Daron, 112!" has dedicated this CD to relationships gone bad...they sound like a bunch of winin' ass men that's had their heart broken too many times, yet have been the reason for the bad relationship and are singing trying to figure out what went wrong. About 80% of the CD is like that. Should be renamed to "Pain & Pain". Ehhhhh, not my idea of a 112 CD. I've said it before and I'm still waiting on it 112, a CD of just Interludes! Nobody can deny 112 holds it down in their Interludes.
Very rarely do I comment on, divulge, or look up the meaning of my own personal dreams, but I thought last night's episode was quite out of character for myself and wanted to know what was up with it.
